Two machines hold a post on an empty moor. They have been there twelve billion years, watching for enemies from a war that ended in a stalemate long before either of them arrived, filing reports to a command that isn't particularly concerned.

The work grew out of conversations with Olesya Elfimova about polycrisis, and about what it is to spend a life waiting for a tectonic political adjustment.

The epigraph comes from Revelation 8:1, on the silence in heaven lasting about half an hour. The first line is the title.

Both robots were performed live, as was the camera. The shadows and the light are generated in real time in engine.
